A Delightful Trip in Cambodia

In May I finally had the chance when I went to Cambodia on holiday. It was wonderful to be reunited with my two lovely friends Thy and Waew, and then to spend an afternoon with Geraldine and the children who live at Sunrise.

I have been the PR 'Angel' since 2011, my first project was helping to raise funds for Sunrise Children's village. I have met Geraldine and some of the children and their carers when they have visited Hong Kong, and we have become good friends, however I'd never had the chance to visit them in Cambodia.

In May I finally had the chance when I went to Cambodia on holiday.  It was wonderful to be reunited with my two lovely friends Thy and Waew, and then to spend an afternoon with Geraldine and the children who live at Sunrise. Words cannot describe the delight and happiness I felt. They welcomed my partner Luca and I with big smiles on their faces, showing me around their facilities. Geraldine invited me to her house for tea, and what I loved the most was to see the kids running in and out of her house watching TV, asking Geraldine to play with them, and one very talented boy played a beautiful piece on the piano for us.  It touched me to see all the happy faces and feel the positive energy.

A few days later I moved on to Siem Reap and visited Sunrise there, and I ate lunch in their newly opened restaurant called 'M'day Thom' (Big Mum).  The purpose of this restaurant is to give the children work experience and for them to develop work skills for outside Sunrise.  The food was really delicious.  I think the idea is brilliant. AFO had funded the top of the range coffee machine for this restaurant.  I also saw the playground donated by AFO using the money raised from the second Zumbathon.  It was another touching moment, making me realise that all the hard work and time I put into helping AFO and Sunrise is really worth it, as it has such a positive impact on the children's lives and future.
